Do i need to use a green backdrop in order to use photoshop backgrounds?

I am new to photoshop and trying to add some digital backgrounds for my sisters senior pictures, and I’m wondering if I have to use a green back drop when I take the pics so I can put photoshop backgrounds in. Thanks!

You can have any background really. The more contrast to the subject the better. I wouldn’t recommend using the magic wand. You’ll get jagged edges. I would suggest using the pen tool or the extract filter, especially with things like hair (extract filter is not in all versions of ps)
